This chapter was very attention grabing to me. I found it very interesting that Tim Pritchard had a workshop where people could track their trash. This is a great way to get people involved and inform about where their trash is ending up after it leaves their homes. Many of the results people got back where shocking like the runner who track their old runner shoes. Which went from Seattle to Oregon. This was a great way to infrom people about trash traveling to the landfill.

I find it to be very cool that a guy just a year older than I am has found a way to reduce that amount of trash that is in our ocean. Rather than just talking about it he actually step up and created something to help make a difference. I highly repect him for this because he showed the world that he is a man of action and has created a world changing device.
I found it interesting that the trash has increased greatly in the ocean in the pasted 40 years. Its not really shocking becasue alot of people are careless now a days. But I highly agree that cities and business has to come up with a way to keep plastic out of the ocean and water ways.
I found it interesting what Justine Parkins' class found that there was really no green movement going on. Even though we where "doing alot of green things". This really wasnt helping out our environment. I love the way the video broke down the trash cycle and Big Economy. It shows that the economy has move power than the government. But at the end of the day we as the people are the ones who chooses who go into office and who does. So you can think of this video as a way of getting you to get out and vote.
What is shocking from this interview is the amount of trash that we produce. I find this to be very interesting that each person in America makes 7 pounds of trash a day. It's shocking that Humes took the time to do all this research. He states the each American makes 102 tons of trash a year. 25 percent of trash that goes into the landfill can be recycled. He states that it would be better to burn the trash rather then burying the trash because it is better on the environment. Humes seem to know exactly what he is talking about which grabs my attention even more.
A team of college student came together along with other scientist to conduct a study of all the plastic in the sea. Which was called SEAPLEX (Scripps Environmental Accumulation of Plastic Expedition) This study showed how dangerous the plastic can be to animal life and human life. About 5.6 million tons of plastic ends up in the sea causing major harm to the marine life. This is very heart braking and scary because most of the world food come from the marine life in the ocean. And we are careless and not trying to make a change about this.
The sea of plastic... interesting very interesting. By far one of the most engaging chapter I have read in the book because it talks about the ocean and the harm that is being done to it by plastic. The smaller fish that eats zooplankton in the ocean mistake the broken up plastic for zooplankton. The plastic absorbs chemicals and the fish eat the plastic and it transfers to the bigger fish and so on until it gets to us, when we eat the fish. I really believe that this should be acted upon quickly.
